SYNOPSIS

The performance titled "mask@face.now" is a co-production between the L'Fabrika Theatre in Kenitra and the Osonó Theatre Workshop. It was created in the distinctive theatrical style of Osonó, as a Moroccan adaptation of the "Carnival" performance previously shown in Thailand. This version incorporates the stories and life experiences of Moroccan youth. The project focuses on the meeting of two distant cultures and addresses the most pressing social issues of each country.

In the performance, the ensemble of Arab and Osonó actors explores the relationship between the individual and society, the exploitation and commodification of people, and the opportunities, dreams, and future prospects of young people. By discussing the present, the co-production raises questions that are relevant not only in Morocco but also in Romania and even throughout Europe. Masks and conformity permeate our lives no matter where we go in the world. We want to reveal ourselves, yet those around us cannot see our true faces; wrapped in newspaper, we trample each other: looking ahead, nervously... reciting clichés. Before we become aware, we are sold, promised a better life. All the while, a spark of purity, a piece of humanity lurks around us. Sometimes we can even hear its voice, but it bothers us that we don't understand it. We cannot destroy or silence it, though. And understanding its music just once is enough to make us feel ashamed.
