INTRODUCTION

The Osonó Theatre is an independent, alternative theatre initiative that serves as an intellectual workshop, providing space for young creators to experiment with contemporary theatre. Beyond the performances we create, our ensemble seeks to engage in dialogue with the audience to inspire them to find their place in society as responsible and creative individuals.

At the Osonó Theatre, we create theatrical performances, organize workshops, and provide training for both young people and adults. Through our educational and social projects, we offer participants an intense experience to enhance their self-awareness and relationships with others.

We have presented our performances in major cities worldwide, from Bangkok to Hamburg, as well as in many Transylvanian towns, with a special focus on scattered communities. Our ensemble has received 30 national and international awards. In 2016, Osonó was recognized as the National Winner of the Charlemagne Youth Prize by the European Parliament. This title was awarded in recognition of our 2015 activities, which provided opportunities for dialogue and understanding among European youth. In 2012, Osonó received the Csokonai Vitéz Mihály Community Award from the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources for outstanding cultural activities in recent years.

The expression "Osonó" reflects the theatrical form our ensemble represents: approaching, listening, seeing the dreams, fears, passions, and joys of the wandering person, and then placing these observed realities into a story that acts as a mirror for the viewer.

The founder and leader of the Osonó Theatre from 1993 to 1998 was András Salamon. Since 1998, the ensemble has been led by Misi Fazakas.
