A true celebration of theater and dialogue at Katona József Theater
"One word comes to mind after the performance: lack of love. Perhaps love, genuine empathy toward one another, and paying attention could be the key to solving our problems—no matter the type of relationship." Last week in Budapest, we presented our documentary performance As Water Reflects the Face at Katona József Theater. The audience followed the performance with deep attention and visibly experienced each moment of it. During the post-performance discussion, it was a joy to see how many viewers felt the urge to speak—whether in connection with a symbol or prop, a particular topic, or a scene. We experienced a true dialogue, a genuine celebration of theater and human connection. We thank the audience for the thoughts and personal stories shared, and we are also grateful to Katona József Theater for offering a space for this meaningful encounter.

Students reflect on parenthood, care, and emotional connection
"We need to talk more about these issues. It would be good to take time, to pause and reflect. We need to communicate in order for things to improve, and we need to pay attention to one another." Last week, we presented our documentary performance As Water Reflects the Face at Erzsébetligeti Theater to several high school classes. It was inspiring to sense the students’ attention, interest, and sensitivity to the topics and scenes portrayed. Missing father figures and the need for attention – Performance and discussion at H13
“We long for attention, but often don’t receive it because our parents have to work. In this situation, it can help if there are teachers at school who can reinforce the image of a mother or a father. Unfortunately, most teachers are women, so many places lack a male role model.” On Monday at noon, we presented our documentary performance As Water Reflects the Face to the students of Semmelweis University’s Bókay János Vocational School at H13 Kultpont. Following the performance, there was space for discussion and shared reflection on the themes of the piece. Topics included parent-child relationships, emotional distance, love, visions for the future, personal responsibility, and paying attention to one another—and to ourselves. We are grateful to H13 Kultpont for their support in making this event possible!

Exploring József Attila’s timeless messages with high school students

October 17, 2024

"I got closer to József Attila. His life story touched me, and I realized that such stories still exist around me today." On Wednesday at noon, we presented our performance titled I am not, only others see me, based on the texts of József Attila, to the students of the József Attila High School in Újbuda, at the B29 Youth Community Space. This unique literature class, supported by the Municipality of Budapest’s 11th District (Újbuda), provided an ideal space for students to delve into the poet’s life and texts and reflect on them further. We thank the school for their trust, the students for their openness, and for the thoughts and questions shared during the post-performance discussion. Topics such as loneliness, the absence of parents, the search for direction, future vision, love, and its absence were discussed. It was great to see how relevant József Attila’s texts still are for today’s youth!

Silence and love: A thought-provoking performance in Veresegyház

September 27, 2024

"The performance was overwhelming. It made me face myself, made me reflect, and strengthened my belief in the importance of paying attention to the people around me. The ending, the silence, was like the surface of the water to me. It ripples, stirs up, but with time it calms down, and the solution is born. Yesterday, we performed our documentary play titled As Water Reflects the Face twice, organized by the Veresegyház Catholic High School. In the afternoon, the Váci Mihály Cultural Center was filled to capacity with the students of the high school, and in the evening, parents attended the performance. Afterward, we provided space to discuss the themes of the performance and reflect together. Topics included the parent-child relationship, emotional gaps, love, future visions, personal responsibilities, and the importance of paying attention to others and ourselves. We thank the school for the trust, the encounter made possible by the theater, and principal Éva Prehodáné Nagy for her enthusiastic organization."

“If you want to go fast, go alone! If you want to go far, go together with others!” (African proverb) We organized a team-building weekend for the troupe. We escaped from the escape rooms, tasted wines from Mór, played board games, cooked together, had meaningful conversations, spent time with each other, and even did a bit of planning. With all of this, we officially kicked off the Osonós season!

Courage and play: self-awareness for youth in Szelterszfürdő

September 4, 2024

Two of our trainers, Misi Fazakas and Oszkár Mucha, led a self-awareness workshop on Monday afternoon at the Perspective – Christian Summer University. The event, held at Szelterszfürdő, was organized by the team of young volunteers from the Archdiocesan Youth Chaplaincy for young people aged between 20 and 35, who want to explore the path of self-discovery and mental health through various programs. We also had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful group. It was great to see how the participants played with joyful freedom but at the same time seriously engaged in the exercises, how they immersed themselves and were able to be their true selves. We marveled at their courage and experimental spirit, and it was heartwarming to feel their interest, energy, and curiosity. We are thankful for the family-like atmosphere, the attention to one another, and the joy of being present and spending time together! We are grateful for the initiative, the invitation, and the organization!

The words of Attila József came to life at the Christian summer university

September 12, 2024

„Közvetlen volt az előadás. Bevont, megszólított, elgondolkodtatott. Eddig nem tudtam sokat József Attiláról, de megnézve ezt az előadást, már sokkal többet tudok róla, a költészetéről és jobban belelátok az életébe.” Kedd délelőtt a csíkszeredai Márton Áron Főgimnáziumban két alkalommal mutattuk be a Nem vagyok, csak mások látnak című, József Attila szövegeiből készült előadásunkat.
